Junaluska Salamander
(Eurycea junaluska)

Description:  3-4 in. (7.5-10 cm). Coloration of body is a mottled brown.  A wavy, broken black stripe extends from nostril to tail.  Resembles the Two-lined Salamander but has longer legs, a shorter tail, and mottling on side of body.  Very little life history traits are known on this salamander.
Habitat:  Usually found beneath rocks, logs, and leaf litter near streams in the western tip of North Carolina.
